Respecting privacy is an important part of our commitment to respondents and the general public.

Scope and Application

 

The ten principles that form the basis of The Insightrix Privacy Policy are interrelated and Insightrix shall adhere to the ten principles as a whole. Each principle must be read in conjunction with the accompanying commentary. As permitted by the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (Canada), the commentary in The Insightrix Privacy Policy has been drafted to reflect personal information issues specific to Insightrix. The scope and application are as follows:

  • Applies to personal information collected, used, or disclosed by Insightrix in the course of commercial activities.
  • Applies to the management of personal information in any form (oral, electronic or written).
  • Does not limit collection/use/disclosure of:
    • Non-personally identifiable information
    • Name, title, business address/telephone number of an employee
    • Publicly available info as defined in applicable regulations

This policy is subject to the requirements of PIPEDA and any other applicable legislation.

Definitions

 

  • Collection: Gathering or obtaining personal information by any means
  • Consent: Voluntary agreement, express or implied, for collection/use/disclosure
  • Disclosure: Making personal info available to a third party
  • Employee: Employee or independent contractor of Insightrix
  • Personal Information: Info about an identifiable individual, excluding business contact info
  • Respondent: A public participant in Insightrix-conducted research
  • Third Party: Outside individual or organization
  • Use: Internal handling/management of personal information

The Ten Principles of Privacy

 

Accountability
Insightrix is accountable for personal information under its control and has a designated Privacy Officer (privacy@insightrix.com).

Identifying Purposes
Insightrix identifies purposes for collection prior to or at the time of data collection:

  • Conducting research
  • Determining eligibility for future research
  • Meeting legal/regulatory requirements

Consent
Participation is voluntary, and respondents may opt out at any time. Express consent is obtained when required.

Limiting Collection
Only information necessary for the identified purposes is collected, mainly from individuals directly.

Limiting Use, Disclosure, and Retention
Information is used/disclosed only as consented or required by law, and retained only as needed.

Accuracy
Personal information is kept accurate and up to date.

Security Safeguards
Appropriate safeguards protect data from unauthorized access or disclosure.

Openness
Insightrix makes information about its privacy practices readily available.

Individual Access
Upon request, individuals may access their personal data and request corrections.

Challenging Compliance
Individuals can challenge Insightrix’s privacy practices by contacting the Privacy Officer.
