Residents believe province is ‘on the right track’
Residents believe province is ‘on the right track’, approve of Brad Wall’s performance, and support the construction of a nuclear reactor.
November 8th, 2009 (Saskatoon, SK). A new independent online poll conducted by Insightrix Research on behalf of CJME and CKOM radio shows that 75.3% of Saskatchewan residents either strongly approve (35.1%) orsomewhat approve (40.2%) of Brad Wall’s performance as Premier of the province. Only 16.0% either somewhat disapprove (8.9%) or strongly disapprove (7.0%) of his performance. Fully 8.7% do not havean opinion on the matter. These findings are consistent with an independent online poll conducted by Insightrix Research in June 2009, where 73.7% of respondents approve of the Premier’s performance. Approval ratings for the provincial NDP Leader, Dwain Lingenfelter, are considerably lower, with only 3.4% of residents strongly approving of his performance as provincial Opposition Leader and onequarter (25.9%) somewhat approving (a total of 29.4%). Close to one half (45.8%) disapprove of his performance either strongly (25.3%) or somewhat (20.4%), while 24.9% do not have an opinion. Turning to the economy, three quarters (75.9%) of Saskatchewan residents believe our province is ‘on the right track’. Less than 1 in 10 (8.9%) believe it is ‘on the wrong track’ and 15.3% are unsure. Further,83.7% believe the Saskatchewan economy is doing better than the rest of Canada (21.0% ‘much better’, 62.7% ‘somewhat better), and another 13.0% believe it is about same as the rest of Canada.Only 2.0% believe our economy is worse off than the rest of the country.

A new online poll conducted by Insightrix Research on behalf of CJME and CKOM radio shows that 71.2% of Saskatchewan residents either stronglysupport (34.5%) or somewhat support (36.7%) the use of private clinics to help reduce surgical wait times. This question was asked in response to the provincial government having recentlyset a target of reducing surgical wait times to less than three months. Nearly one quarter of residents (23.1%) either strongly oppose (12.0%) or somewhat oppose (11.0%) the idea, while5.8% have no opinion. Another three quarters (73.8%) either strongly support (40.4%) or somewhat support (33.4%) construction of a nuclear reactor to develop medical isotopes. In contrast, 16.4% oppose theidea (8.2% somewhat oppose, 8.2% strongly oppose). Nearly nine in ten (9.8%) have no opinion. With respect to developing a nuclear power plant to generate electricity, 61.0% of residents support the idea (26.8% strongly support, 34.2% somewhat support). In contrast, three in ten(30.4%) either strongly oppose (19.1%) or somewhat oppose (11.3%) it. Finally, Saskatchewan residents are divided on the issue of building a new domed stadium in Regina. Specifically, 54.2% either strongly support (19.3%) or somewhat support (34.9%) thebuilding while one third (33.0%) oppose it (16.5% strongly oppose, 16.5% somewhat oppose). The remaining 12.8% have no opinion.

August 26th, 2010 (Saskatoon, SK). A new online poll conducted by Insightrix Research Inc. on behalf of CJME and CKOM radio shows that 55% of Saskatchewan residents either strongly oppose (28%) or somewhat oppose (27%) BHP Billiton acquiring PotashCorp in its recently announced hostile takeover attempt. In contrast, only 14% support such a move by BHP Billiton, while 22% are indifferent on the issue and another 10% are unsure on the matter.
