Provincial government report cards come in
June 24th, 2009 (Saskatoon, SK). A new independent online poll conducted by Insightrix Research shows that public approval for the Provincial Government's efforts on a variety of issues is positive, and approval of the Premier is strong. The research was conducted with a random and representative sample of Saskatchewan individuals who are members of SaskWatch Research™, an online panel developed, owned and managed by Insightrix Research.
Specifically, 73.7% of online respondents either strongly approve (36.0%) or somewhat approve (37.7%) of Brad Wall's performance as Premier of Saskatchewan and leader of the Saskatchewan Party. Just 16.4% disapprove of his performance, either strongly (6.5%) or somewhat (9.9%). One in ten (9.9%) are unsure. These approval ratings are up from January 2008 when 59.9% of Saskatchewan residents either strongly or somewhat approved of his performance (another independent poll conducted via telephone by Insightrix Research). Men (43.9%) are more likely than women (28.9%) to strongly approve of the Premier's performance.
Strong approval ratings among Saskatchewan residents are also noted with respect to how the Provincial Government has performed in managing a variety of issues. Those issues with the strongest support include:
- The economy (24.0% strongly approve, 51.9% somewhat approve – a total of 75.9%)
- Education (11.5% strongly approve, 52.7% somewhat approve – a total of 64.2%)
Assessments are softer, yet still positive with respect to the Provincial Government's performance dealing with:
- The environment (10.0% strongly approve, 51.2% somewhat approve – a total of 61.2%)
- Healthcare (10.5% strongly approve, 48.7% somewhat approve – a total of 59.2%)
- Roads and Infrastructure (15.0% strongly approve, 41.4% somewhat approve – a total of 56.4%)
- Crime (9.7% strongly approve, 45.3% somewhat approve – a total of 55.0%)
- Nuclear development in the province (19.8% strongly support, 32.3% somewhat support – a total of 52.1%) – however approval ratings among only those with an opinion on the issue is 61.2% (excluding 'don't know' responses)
Research Details
A total of 1,004 randomly selected panel members participated in the research study between June 3rd and June 10th. The data are weighted by age, gender, region and household income.

August 26th, 2010 (Saskatoon, SK). A new online poll conducted by Insightrix Research Inc. on behalf of CJME and CKOM radio shows that 55% of Saskatchewan residents either strongly oppose (28%) or somewhat oppose (27%) BHP Billiton acquiring PotashCorp in its recently announced hostile takeover attempt. In contrast, only 14% support such a move by BHP Billiton, while 22% are indifferent on the issue and another 10% are unsure on the matter.
